Boarding School Survivor Coaching
I know what it’s like to keep going, to “succeed” on the outside while feeling disconnected, flat, or lost inside.
I boarded from age 8 to 16, through the 1970s and 80s. Like many others, I adapted. I got on with it. And I spent most of my adult life doing what I thought I was supposed to do—working hard, achieving, functioning. But something vital in me was missing.
Over the past two decades, I’ve been unpicking the impact of early separation, emotional shutdown, and the deep sense of abandonment that comes with the boarding school experience. It’s been a long road—but one that brought me back to myself. Looking back, I know this journey would have been shorter—and less lonely—if I’d had someone who understood. Not a therapist. Not a fixer. Just someone who’d walked the same path and could meet me there.
That’s the kind of coach I aim to be. Not to lead or to advise, but to walk beside you—as someone who gets it. No need to explain the culture, the armour, or the silence. I’ve lived it. And I know there’s a way through.
